Supporting Unique Needs in Satisfying Humankind Initiatives through New Experiences

Sunshine Club was one of our agency’s original programs built in the late 1950’s. The “new” Sunshine Club has been completely rebuilt and taken to a whole new level.  A large portion of our participants seldom have the opportunity or means to volunteer or help others.  In fact, most have never gotten to experience the pride and satisfaction feeling that goes along with truly making a difference. Sunshine Club’s foundation is built on the “common good of others” and the acronym (Supporting Unique Needs in Satisfying Humankind Initiatives through New Experiences) was developed to give new meaning and purpose to the program.

Sunshine Club’s new vision will incorporate a variety of social experiences, community involvement and integration, by partnering with local nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other agencies within our community. The ability to increase self-worth, independence, new skills and knowledge will be implemented through learning and researching about our community partnerships, and working toward the “common good of others” by baking, hosting talent shows, singing, playing games, providing handmade crafts/decorations etc… These qualities all fit very nicely into RADD’s mission.  Additionally, this program will have a very positive impact and “ripple effect” on the community.  Starting first with the participant and then expanding to members of the community and also reaching the “unsung heroes” that care for our participants.

A very special THANK YOU to the Racine Community Foundation for awarding RADD start-up funding for Sunshine Club!
